Dear Folks,

I just love the old hymn that plays with this. Feel free to sing along, I did.
I had an oncology checkup yesterday and my doctor is still amazed and elated over my progress. He said that all indications were that I was very healthy. Praise the Lord !
Another thing, as as former coach, I had the unique experience of having one of my former players as my dentist and his assistant was a former gym student. They are all grown up and have children of their own. What did they talk about as they did my dental work ? What a good time they had doing parachute games in my gym class during their Jr High days.

Miss May Marshbanks

Dear Kathie
I’m attaching a picture of Miss May Marshbanks that I received last Sunday. We stopped to see her on our way home from Raleigh. She was as sharp as usual but physically she has lost a lot of mobility and spends most of her time in a wheelchair.

The picture from Friday evening just arrived here in Tucson. It reminded me that I had never taken the time to thank each of you for pushing and getting me to Chapel Hill in June. I did enjoy the trip. It was good to see so many people and it was strange how in so many cases it was if there had not been a 50 year separation!Over the years having organized all sorts of events both for non-profits and political, I know how much herding of cats is involved in putting something like the reunion on. Thank you for all your work and the rest of the committee.

I also had a good time driving around and locating all the places we had lived in Chapel Hill — Rosemary Street, Durham Rd., Pittsboro St, Watters Lane and finally Christopher Rd. Drove past classmates houses and the two churches we were affiliated with. Lots of memories.

How did Sunday work out. I had to get back to D.C. for meetings. Did anyone show up who I missed on Friday and Saturday? We just have had our two grandkids here in Tucson ages 7 and 4 and took them up Mt. Lemmon for the 4th of July small town [very small town] parade. A good time had by all. Tomorrow early in the a.m. take our daughter and the grandkids to D.C. for a couple of days of touring and then meeting up with son in law Ben. Not looking forward to the heat and humidity of D.C. but the touring will be fun!

Again, thanks for a great reunion weekend.

Loved the little bit of time I had at the Sunday brunch. Was great to see everyone again. Loved chatting with Sandy,Buddy T., Tom R., Anne C., Marcella W.,Don N., and of course, Carol M., Tricia, Sally and Anne F. and Bob Hogan. Missed seeing Monty M. and Larry C. and many others. You planners are to be congratulated on a fine job. Let’s not wait for another 5 years!! I love any excuse to return to CH. I thank all of you for keeping those of us who went away to school ‘in the fold’. After all, many of us  started out together at Mrs. Wettach’s kindergarten together.
Hugs to all,

Jane Hedgpeth Wells

Dear Anne and Tom…
I’m truly sorry that I cannot be with you for the reunion….and told Nancy Beck when she called. I will be at the beach with my two sons and their families….simply too complicated to get everyone together.

My years in Chapel Hill were wonderful….a truly happy time growing up…I went to Salem College and earned a BS in art…minor in chemistry and education….how about that combination.?…..you could do that back then….taught school for several years….raised two sons….and 17 years later returned to the art….for the last 18 years I have been painting portraits….which has been fun.

Stafford Warren’s mother gave me the nickname of “Chris”……to my mother’s chagrin…and it stuck from then on…..

Have a wonderful time…DO wish I could be there!

Hi Guys,

Thanks to all of you for the best high school reunion ever. It was FANTASTIC !!!!.  It was great to see so many classmates, some of which I hadn’t seen in fifty years.

You are to be congratulated on the venue, the food, and everything else. You couldn’t have found a better location for the banquet where the food was wonderful, the service outstanding, and the concept really promoted mixing & mingling. And about that barbeque at Jimmy Freelands’…..what a treat. Some of the best in N.C..

Here’s wishing y’all the very best.
